Children's Home – Zaparozhye
KEY FACTS
Offering 27 Jewish children at risk, a new start in life
Longer term aims are to educate children for college or university entrance
This home offers a new start in life to 30 Jewish children at risk, orphans aged six to 17 from unstable and impoverished families, or those living on the streets.
Most have suffered unthinkable hardships such as abandonment, hunger, abuse and disease, but the Home provides a loving environment alongside practical necessities such as shelter, medical treatment, education and clothes.
The longer term aims are to educate children for college or university entrance and to foster the reintroduction of Jewish identity, culture and community into their lives.
WJR support will contribute towards meals, medical costs, water and electricity, clothing and hygiene, medical staff and cleaning staff at the home in 2008-9.
