Make your child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah more meaningful by sharing their special day with children less fortunate than themselves. By taking part in WJR's Twinning programme, you will be joining hands with your extended family overseas.

KEY FACTS

Our Twinning Programme helps provide children with a secure environment as well as clothes, food, medicine, Jewish books and the means to enjoy a celebration on their special day.

Through Twinning you will be supporting a children's project for a year long period at a cost of £50 per month. During the year you'll receive two updates so you can see how you're changing children's lives for the better.

Whilst your child learns about the plight of children in desperate need, you'll be contributing to one of several children's projects around the world - it is an amazing opportunity to do a Mitzvah. You will be assigned a specific project - where children of Bar or Bat Mitzvah age will be receiving our support - and receive regular updates so you know how your donation is making a difference to a child and giving them hope for a brighter future.

Make a disadvantaged child's dream come true

There are children living in desperate circumstances all over the world, and they need our urgent help. Hundreds of abandoned children are condemned to a life on the streets, while others exist in sub-human conditions in state orphanages. Some live with their parents but their conditions are still so dire they rely on our basic packages of food and goods for survival. Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebrations are only a dream for these children. Fortunately, with your help, we can change this and make a child's life better, by reaching out to them through our Twinning programme.

Put the Mitzvah back in the Bar Mitzvah

Bar and Bat Mitzvahs in the UK are becoming increasingly elaborate. While the celebration is important for your child's own self-awareness, you can help someone in need by Twinning the occasion. Take part in the Twinning programme and your child can learn about the plight of children of a similar age living in abject poverty. It's a chance to put things in perspective, to show your child how different life can be.

Twinning costs just £50 a month and you could encourage your child to raise a proportion of this money themselves. By getting your child involved, the programme will be even more meaningful and is an opportunity to put the real values of tzedakah into practice.
