Entembeni Old People's Home
The home was established in 1956 by leaders of the city when they noticed large numbers of destitute elderly. Today the home is extremely run down and caters for 75 people aged over 65.
There are 18 members of staff to look after the 75 people, and only two have nursing qualifications.
The home is in a poor condition and does not have enough funding to cover basic running costs, let alone make any improvements.
This project will provide funds to cover some running costs as well as allow the home to work on its own income generating projects, in order to limit its reliance on WJR support.
